I have now been in Japan for over 10 months. I have been living in a small rural town, and attempting to teach Eigo to Nihon-jins who really can't be arsed. But i have done some awesome travelling and had some amazing experiences!

'ello there

So after lots of nervousness, i am now here in the amazing land of the rising sun and the raw fish. Reality hasn’t really hit me yet that i am now a resident of Fukui in Japan, i'm still in my own little dream land believing that this is a bit of an extended holiday! I reckon i'm going to be a little hard hit when school starts on the 1st of september and i will be working from 8 till 5- yuk yuk yuk. However i hope that it wont just be a regular boring job, and that all of the experiences outside of teaching will also make this a once in a life time fantastic experience.

So..... i arrived in Tokyo on the 30th July and spent the following 3 days in a plush hotel called the Keio Plaza, where i did some 'training' and 'orientation'. Although myself and the the other few thousand JET participants at the hotel were dressed in suits and waltzing around this chandelier clad hotel, it really was just like the first day of uni and chatting to lots of randoms who you were never going to meet again, followed by a bit of drinkage and karaoke. But i was being paid for it so im not likely to moan!
